Organisation
The work is currently organised in an informal way, and the interactions between the participants happen principally through teleconferencing meetings (tcons).
Steering Committee meetings
The Steering Committee is responsible for making all strategic decisions regarding the OntoSPM Collaborative Action:
- definition of scope and goals
- admission of new participant institutions
- promotion of the results (communication in conferences, articles)
- intellectual property (such as licensing)
- submission of proposals for funding.
The Steering Committee is composed of individuals representing the participant institutions. It is chaired by a chairman and a co-chair, elected for a two-year period of time. The current chairman is Bernard Gibaud, and the co-chair is Paulo Gonçalves. The committee meets every two months. The dates of the next meetings are announced on the wiki several months in advance.
Technical Committee meetings
The Technical Committee is responsible for organizing the technical work, necessary to reach the general goals defined by the Steering Committee.
The technical work is based on the definition and processing of Change Proposals (CPs), addressing a problem or limitation of some aspect of the current version of the OntoSPM ontology. This may concern the ontology itself (extension with new entities, deprecation of existing entities, definition or modification of axioms, annotations) or its documentation. CPs are discussed at each meeting, and assigned to a volunteer. A solution is then prepared and discussed at a following meeting, and eventually adopted, and the corresponding changes are integrated in the next version of the Ontology. The whole process is supported by a version control system and tracking of CPs.
It is chaired by a chairman and a co-chair, also elected for a two-year period of time. The current chairman is Germain Forestier, and the co-chair is Darko Katic. The Technical Committee meets every month. The dates of next meetings are announced on the wiki several months in advance.
